Alas for those who devise wickedness
and evil deeds on their beds!….

Therefore, thus says the Lord:
Now, I am devising against this family an evil
from which you cannot remove your necks;
and you shall not walk haughtily,
for it will be an evil time.

From Micah 2:1-5, NRSV

The prophet Micah speaks of the downfall that is to come for those who spent their time devising and executing plans to steal land and property from the poor. Their crimes would have left their victims with no livelihood or means of support. Micah makes it clear that the evil that has been committed will be repaid and that those who have stolen the land and homes of others will suffer the same fate themselves.
