Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.
From Hebrews 11:1-7, NRSV

In today’s reading, we are reminded that faith is about putting our whole trust in God and believing beyond the limits of what we can see or perceive. The author underlines his message with reference to Old Testament figures who demonstrated obedience to God without fully knowing or seeing what the consequences of this would be.

    • Why helps or hinders our faith and trust in God?
    • Is faith a gift or something that we can obtain by our own means?

Give thanks for all whose lives have inspired your own faith.
