I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus, for in every way you have been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind— just as the testimony of Christ has been strengthened among you— so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul begins his letter to the new community of Christians in Corinth by giving thanks for the many ways in which the Holy Spirit was alive and active amongst them. He encourages them to see that in all their activities, and perhaps especially in their ordinary daily living, they are preparing for the final coming of Christ. He assures them that they have received all the spiritual gifts that they need to live worthily while they await this time.
