Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries.
Moreover, it is required of stewards that they should be found trustworthy.
From 1 Corinthians 4: 1-5 (NRSV)

The key word in today’s reading seems to be “stewards” – people to whom something special is entrusted. It does not belong to them and they need to be aware of the preciousness of their charge and the amount of trust that has been placed with them. In our own way, we have been entrusted with God’s mysteries. We may not  be in the same league as Paul , but we have the precious gift of life and knowledge of God’s love for us and for the world. One day, as stewards do, we will have to give our life back – the question then will be, have we been worthy of the trust God placed within us.

    • What does the word “steward” mean to you?
    • How is being a steward of something different from owning something?

Ponder today what being a steward of your life means – of the gift God has entrusted to you to use and hand back in due course.
