Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.
From Philippians 2:1-4, NRSV

Although today’s first reading is brief, it contains all of the advice necessary for the Church to live as it should. Not only are its members to withstand external conflict but they are also to guard against internal conflict. In order to do this, they are instructed to live in humility and to put the needs of others before their own. For Paul, it was inconceivable that there could be anything other than unity and peace between the members of the community.

    • Why was it important for the early Church to live in peace and unity?
    • Can a disunited community be called a church?

Pray for resolution to all that stands in the way of peace and unity in our church communities.
